DreamHack Winter 2018 opened up with Complexity beating x6tence Galaxy on Mirage, 16-10, while Bravado stunned OpTic on Dust2, 16-14.
A triple by Bradley "ANDROID" Fodor in the pistol round on the Terrorist side gave Complexity the first tally on the scoreboard, which they were then able to follow up winning against a full eco. The first gun round also went to the American team with doubles by Rory "dephh" Jackson and ANDROID in a quick B play. They once again rushed B, making it 4-0 early on. x6tence Galaxy were finally able to get on the board in the eighth round after slowly dismantling Complexity one by one with aggressive plays on A. The Swedes were able to get a few rounds late in the half, making some fixes and taking more map control, closing the half out 5-10.
Complexity then took the second pistol round, and after winning two more rounds for a 12-5 lead, they won a 3vs3 post-plant on A to further increase their lead. After hitting 14, Complexity started to deflate as x6tence Galaxy, with Nicolas "Plopski" Gonzalez Zamora at the helm, won round after round keeping the Americans hurting in the money department. The Swedes made it to double digits after winning five rounds in a row, but it was finally Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan & co. who were able to win the last two rounds needed to close it out, 16-10.

A triple by Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer on long and Nikolaj "niko" Kristensen in mid gave the opening round on Dust2 to OpTic, who then won the second round against glocks. Bravado then made their way to the B site on the first buy round forcing OpTic to save. After following it up, Bravado took the lead, 3-2, before OpTic were able to make a 3vs2 retake on B work to bring it back even. Bravado then reset the Danes with an A execute. OpTic forced up and got a 5vs3 lead the following round, but Ruan "ELUSIVE" van Wyk was able to win a 1vs1 afterplant against Jakob "JUGi" Hansen to keep his team in the lead.
Bravado kept winning the key rounds, resetting OpTic and keeping them on the back foot, for a 10-5 lead at the half. A double by ELUSIVE defending on B followed by a double by Dimitri "Detrony" Hadjipaschali to close out the round kept Bravado well in the lead going into the second half, but OpTic were able to get the plant down in the forcebuy and win the round as Rhys "Fadey" Armstrong was unable to get the defuse in time without a kit despite no Danes being left alive.
A huge round by Fadey with four one deags got the South Africans another round, but they were quickly reset as OpTic got to double digits, making it 12-10. Down 12-13, Fadey played an aggressive play on short getting two early kills which Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek was able to follow up to keep the match tied. A double by Johnny "JT" Theodosiou in a 4vs2 retake on A got his team back in the lead, which they were eable to follow up to make it 15-13. Bravado were finally able to close it out in the last round as Sonic won a 1vs1 against JUGi, 16-14.
