MOUZ have stepped into ESL Pro League Group C on the right foot after securing a 2-1 victory over FaZe in their first match.
Finn "karrigan" Andersen's men have confirmed their dominance over the Nikola "NiKo" Kovač-led squad, who now have a 0-4 record in series up against their rivals following the closely-contested affair in the last group of European ESL Pro League.
FaZe couldn't break the unfavorable streak despite looking poised to clinch the series after a comfortable Nuke opener and 8-3 starts on both Train and Dust2, where MOUZ managed to turn things around to secure two close victories.
MOUZ got off well on Nuke with a 4-1 lead on the CT side, but some key plays from NiKo and Håvard "rain" Nygaard gave control over to FaZe, who used it to gain momentum with some fast upper hits and claim nine out of the remaining ten rounds. When the sides switched, a quad-kill from the Norwegian in the pistol round put his team in a comfortable position, from which they easily closed the opening map at 16-9.
Picking up where they left off, FaZe put together a solid defense on Train with NiKo firing on all cylinders, but a good recovery late in the first half and a strong start in the second saw MOUZ climb back into contention. karrigan's squad eventually claimed a lead and looked to equalize the series, ultimately managing to do so after the second map came down to the wire at 16-14.
When the series arrived at Dust2, Marcelo "coldzera" David & co. were once again in the driving seat early with a dominant run on the CT side, with MOUZ having to climb back from a 3-8 deficit. Three consecutive rounds gave the favorites some much-needed breathing room, however, and once they got a hold of weaponry on the defense MOUZ looked insurmountable, with a 10-1 run giving them the edge at 16-12, 2-1.
